Everybody wants to Become Younger, but not everybody wants to do more than wishful thinking about it. If we want to Become Younger and Healthier, we must DO something about it.

A PRAYER FOR MY TIME ON THE COMPUTER

Glitter Graphics

Angel Glitters

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
(Luke 4:4)

A PRAYER FOR MY TIME ON THE COMPUTER

Gracious God, even in the wondrous tangle of wires and connections, you make yourself known. May my computer be more than a machine of information and become an altar on which I am able to offer my thanks for the abundance of gifts in this richly textured world. As I scan through images, as I learn and explore, as I create and produce, bring my soul to the awareness that I am not alone in this vast world of human energy. Fill me with that energy and give me a heart of gratitude.
Amen.

Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL!

My New Blog:

Staying young.....and healthy
http://longe-vity.blogspot.com/

*******************************

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church in Houston , Texas . Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.'
Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it.
Accept it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet.
'
When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, 'Here, you gave me too much change.'
The driver, with a smile, replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town? I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll see you at church on Sunday.'
When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, held on, and said, oh God; I almost sold your Son for a quarter.'
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really scary example of how much people watch us as Christians and will put us to the test!
Always be on guard -- and remember -- You carry the name of Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Christian.'

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

I'm glad a friend Jim forwarded this to me as a reminder.
God bless you; I hope you are having a wonderful day!
If you don't pass this on to anybody, nothing bad will happen; if you do, you will have ministered to someone.
The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not PROTECT you...
Stay FAITHFUL and Be GRATEFUL!

Marriage

A friend shared to me this wonderful article on marriage and so I end up sharing this too. So to all married out there, Hope it's not too late! to those who are still planning to enter this challenging life then read on more too....

MARRIAGE

When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observe the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn't talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactorily answer; she had lost my heart to Dew. I didn't love her anymore. I just pitied her! With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Dew so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now. The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn't have supper but went straight to sleep And fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Dew. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again. In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn't want anything from me, but needed a month's notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month's time and she didn't want to disrupt him with our broken marriage. This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding
day. She requested that everyday for the month's duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door
ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.

I told Dew about my wife's divorce
conditions. She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.

My wife and I hadn't had any body contact since my divorce inten tion was explicitly expressed. So
when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mummy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don't tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove

Alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn't looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.

On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.

On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of Intimacy was growing again. I didn't tell Dew about this. It becam easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday work out made me stronger. She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily. Suddenly it hit me... she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.

Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it's time to carry mum out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day. But her much lighter weight made me
sad.

On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn't noticed that our life lacked intimacy.

I drove to office... jumped out of the car swiftly without locki ng the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind... I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Dew, I do not want the divorce anymore.

She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved
her hand off my head. Sorry, Dew, I said, I won't divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn't value the details of our lives, not because we didn't love each other any more. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.

At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I'll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.

The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationshi p. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank, blah..blah.. blah. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse's friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!

If you don't share this, nothing will happen to you. If you do, you just might save a marriage.

"I will keep a smile on my face and in
my heart even when it hurts today. I
know that the world is a looking glass

my own soul. Now I understand the
secret of correcting the attitude of
others and that is to correct my own."

God Bless You

I was tagged by Priya .

This tag is called the blessing tag.You are supposed to bless three of your blog friends. The tag was started over here -ukok. ukok
The idea and the rules of passing on the tag are:

While it is my wish to bless all who read this blog, for the purposes of starting this little endeavour it is necessary that I ‘bless’ 3 blogfriends, who may in turn ‘bless’ 3 blogfriends. Let’s use a simple format, and let’s make it even simpler by suggesting that the recipient simply copies and pastes above picture when they become the recipient of a bloggin blessing themselves.

The idea… it’s a game of tag with a difference, rather than looking inwardly, we look outside ourselves and bless, praise and pray for one blog friend. By participating in this endeavour we not only make the recipient of the blessing feel valued and appreciated, but we are having some fun too. We’re going to see how far the bloggin’ blessings can travel around the world and how many people can be blessed! Recipients of a bloggin’ blessing may upload the above image to their sidebar if they choose to. If you recieve a bloggin’ blessin’ please leave a comment on this thread here so that we can rejoice in just how many blessings have been sent around the world.
I have to tag 3 people
but I go with four- my wonderful new friends:
Bandiya
Nanditha and her grandmom Khayals
Suzanne

(If anybody read this post, please fell free and go ahead and take this blessing tag - if you want).

The circular kitchen

From Noushy:
http://panasians.blogspot.com/
The circular kitchen is a new approach to kitchen design based on the changing needs of apartment dwellers and modern lifestyle. After centuries of conventional kitchen design, the self-contained circular kitchen challenges many of the notions of a normal kitchen, treating it more as an appliance than a dedicated, inflexible room. It can be easily added or relocated to any space, be it apartment, office, holiday home or factory and comes complete with all the facilities and storage space of a conventional kitchen. There are no conventional cupboard doors, so access to the kitchen’s various components is by rotating the central unit through 180 degrees, or the top unit which rotates through 360 degrees.

What's more, it's completely lockable via the slatted sliding door and with such a small footprint (1.8 square metres), it is suitable for spaces that conventional kitchens are not. The circular kitchen consists of an outer circular wall with fixed rear wall and a sliding slatted, lockable doors.

The inner core rotates 180 degrees and is equipped with all the conveniences of a conventional kitchen, including a stainless steel sink with chrome single lever mixer, a waste bin and drawers. The upper circular shelf rotates through 360 degrees to house crockery, glasses, etc. Inside it has its own lighting, electrical sockets, electronics, water and waste disposal.

By utilising the volume of the circular kitchen fully, it has been possible to offer a storage capacity equivalent to that of a large conventional kitchen. "It contains the equivalent of 12 cupboards from a conventional kitchen", says designer Alfred Averbeck.

There's also the facility to specify the Circular Kitchen with all the appliances necessary - refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, fully integrated coffee machine, ceramic cook top with 2 or 4 cook zones, a built-in microwave/oven-combination and a Range hood.

As with any kitchen fit-out, there's an infinite choice of decor, colours, fittings, benchtop finishes and depending on the selection of equipment the Circular Kitchen will cost between EUR5,000 and 12,000 (US$6500 to US$15,000).

Find your Passion for Life

Photo from passionate man Azer Mantessa: http://halusi.blogspot.com/
To have passion, to have a dream, to have a purpose in life. And there are three components to that purpose, one is to find out who you really are, to discover God, the second is to serve other human beings, because we are here to do that and the third is to express your unique talents and when you are expressing your unique talents you lose track of time.

Through prayer all things are possible (click)

A Child’s Healing
Jesus prayed for children, knowing that they hold a special place in the heart of God. He prayed for them with unshakable faith in God’s power to bless and heal them. Jesus knew that God is always present in each child as pure life, health, strength, and perfection. He proved again and again that a loving heart and a mind filled with faith can call forth this indwelling spirit of life.
From the time that Jesus healed little children to the present time, the healing power of God has not changed. As you pray for a child, keep your thoughts calm and your faith strong. See life—a steady stream of life—flowing unhindered through every cell. Resolutely look away from appearances and see the child or the children you would bless upheld, enfolded, and surrounded by the love of God and strengthened by the life of God. See all the functions of mind and body working in health-creating harmony.
Let this be your thought and your prayer: You are made in the image and likeness of God. You are established in health and perfection.
Children, with their simple faith and innate eagerness to express life, respond readily to positive thoughts and words of life and health. They respond to love and faith-filled prayer just as surely as a plant responds to the warmth of sunshine.
Releasing your concerns to God in prayer will bless and uplift you. The child you are praying for will innately sense your faith and peace of mind, which will strengthen his or her faith and peace of mind and quicken the healing process. Once you have turned your concerns over to God in prayer, you are completely free to open your heart to the child seeking your love and reassurance.
Remember that nothing is too much to ask of God and nothing is too slight for the power of God to harmonize, heal, or adjust. As you pray, you are a channel for God’s healing power. You are calling God’s spirit of perfect life into activity.

THE REAL MEANING OF LIFE

May we never forget the real meaning of life. - Tathiana

"The last day"
That was his last day, but he didn't know. In that morning, he wanted to stay in bed a little longer. He was tired and hasn't had a good night of sleep. He gave up the idea, thinking of how many things he should do at the office. He got ready automatically, paying no attention to his exhausted sembance, result of so many nights without sleep.
He had his coffee in a hurry and left, wishing a good morning that couldn't convince even himself. He disconsidered his wife's lips, who offered a kiss of good-bye.
He couldn't understand why she complained so much about his absence, since he was being able to maintain a high standard of life for his family.
In the car he called his daughter. He smiled as she told him his great son has given his first steps. He became serious again as she reminded him that for long time he hasn't showed up to see his great son. She invited him for lunch, but he refused. He would love to see them, but that day he couldn't be absent from the company. Maybe next weekend, he thought.
He arrived at the office and badly said hi to his coo-workers. He was full of compromises so decided to start right away.
For lunch, he had a sandwich and a diet soda that he asked to his secretary to buy. His cholesterol has high; he needed a check-up but that would be for the next month. He ate it fast while reading some papers he would use in the afternoon meeting. He felt dizzy and remembered of his doctor warning, but thought it was temporary, needing only a strong coffee without sugar.
After lunch, he continued his work. More papers to read, more decisions to make, more compromises. Leaving late for a meeting he decided not to wait for the elevator. He ran down the stairs, got into the car and felt dizzy again, but also felt a strong pain in his heart.
He became out of breath... the pain increased... everything disappeared from his eyes as he started seeing scenes of a film he knew very well... his wife, great son, daughter, and all people he liked most.
Why didn't he have lunch with his daughter and great son?
What did his wife say while he was leaving the house this morning?
The pain has continued but now he felt a greater one: the repentance.
He heard the noise of something breaking inside his heart and his eyes cried silent tears.
He wanted to live, to have another chance, he wanted to go back home and kiss his wife, hug his daughter, play with his great son... He wanted but there was no more time.

Many people live as if they would never die and die without living.
May we never forget the real meaning of life.

This story is from my beautiful and happy friend Tathiana. If you want to know why she is happy visit her great blog:

I BELIEVE I CAN FLY - (*click*)

Watch video:

I Believe I Can Fly - R. Kelly

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I'm leaning on the everlasting arms

If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

I believe I can flyI believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly

See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes silence can seem so loud
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me, oh

If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

Hey, cuz I believe in me, oh
If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

Hey, if I just spread my wings
I can fly

I can fly

I can fly, hey
If I just spread my wings
I can fly

From Friday's Child great blog *(click)*

“Don’t aim for success if you want it, just do what you love and believe in,
and it will come naturally.”
Og Mandino, the greatest salesman in the world. During his life has written 17 books and gave talks to hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. He was the president of “Success Unlimited until 1976, when at the age of 52, he devoted himself full time to writing and lecturing. He became one of the most sought after speakers in the country and was inducted as a member of the National Speakers Association Hall of Fame. His books have sold over 50 million copies and many have been translated into over twenty-five different languages.
Let me share with you one of his writings about aiming for success. I know many of you will be interested. Especially those who are aiming for success…………
“Every living soul has different talents, different desires, different faculties. Be yourself. Try to be anything else but your genuine self, even if you deceive the entire world, and you will be ten thousand times worse than nothing.
Consider the plants and the animals of the field, how they live. Does a cotton plant bear even one apple? Does a pomegranate tree ever produce an orange? Does a lion attempt to fly?
Only man of all living things, foolishly strives to be other than what he was intended to be. You cannot choose your calling. Your calling chooses you. You have been blessed with special skills that are yours alone. Use them, whatever they may be and forget about wearing another's hat.
A talented chariot driver can win gold and renown with his skills. Let him pick figs and he would starve.
No one can take your place. Realize this and be yourself. You have no obligation to succeed. You have only the obligation to be true to yourself. Do the very best that you can, in the things you do best and you will know in your soul, that you are the greatest success in the world".

WHAT ABOUT VITAMIN PILLS ?

VITAMIN PILLS
What about vitamin pills?
Not only vitamin C but all synthetic vitamin in the form of pills are harmful.
First, most vitamins are compounds formed by plants in the process of biosynthesis under the influence of Sunlight and Moonlight. Vitamins in plants are in forms (pro-vitamin) that are easily assimilated by the human body. Plants also contain all mineral salts and other compounds (some still unknown) that help in full assimilation of vitamins.
Second, artificial vitamins are non-organic crystalloid substances treated as foreign by our body. They are assimilated with difficulty or not assimilated at all (especially in the case of metabolic disorders). This is why many people notice that their urine has the same color and smell as the vitamins. There are frequent cases of rejection in the form of nausea, weakness, or itching.
Third, one of the side effects of taking synthetic vitamins is increased appetite. This happens because the body, in order to assimilate the vitamins, needs additional amounts of mineral salts, carbohydrates, and proteins. Unlike plant-based foods, synthetic vitamins do not have these ingredients, and the body instinctively looks for more food, which leads to obesity.
In most people’s mind, vitamin C has the opinion of a harmless supplement. However, in recent years physicians started noticing more side effects that are caused by vitamin C overdosing. It is common that people take vitamin C in liberal amounts, sometimes 0.14-0.21 oz (4-6g.) a day, as a remedy against flu and some viral infections, while the recommended amount is about 100mg a day.
Scientists in many countries agree with the opinion that taking synthetic vitamin C does not increase immunity against cold, and its large doses make the symptoms of some infectious-allergic diseases (especially rheumatism) more severe.
The most dangerous effect of high doses of vitamin C is increased coagulability of blood, leading to blood clots. Another side effect can be formation of stones from oxalic acid and uric acid in our kidneys and bladder.
Synthetic vitamin C destroys other vitamins. This is why patients who get shots of vitamin B2 are advised by physicians to stop taking vitamin C during that time.
Large doses of vitamin C interfere with the production of insulin by the pancreas in diabetics and cause an increase of sugar level in their urine and blood. Recent search shows that vitamin C overdosing slows the transmission of nerve-muscle impulses, causing increased muscle fatigue and lowering the coordination between eyes and muscles.
It is a good idea to consult your physician about the effects of synthetic vitamin C.
Natural vitamins found in large amounts in fruits and vegetables are most beneficial . It is not possible to overdose them.

Prayer from Mysti blog (click)

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can; and
the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right, if I surrender to His
will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

I envision my loved ones healthy, happy and secure.

Dear one, I remember you always in my prayers.

Prayer is as necessary to happy and successful living as breathing is to physical bodies.”—Mary L. Kupferle.

Prayer is a way of life, a way to move through life with peace in our hearts.
Prayer is a tool which we use to build our awareness of God within and to bring ourselves closer to God. And it is this awareness of God’s presence that keeps us poised and centered in times of challenge.
God is unlimited source of health, wisdom, and abundance for all.

Daily Word is as aDaily Bread.

My comfort with God.

God is my comfort and my strength.
Beloved, whatever you may be going through, I am there with you. Through triumph and joy, through challenge and change, I am with you to comfort you and to give you strength.
I am with you wherever you go, guiding you through every experience of your life.
My strength is your strength,
My light is your light,
My life is your life.
Throughout every hour of the day and night, I am with you as love and peace.
When you call to Me, I will answer. I recognize your voice and know what is in your heart. I am the very foundation of life.
Accept My love, peace, and inspiration, for they are yours. Accept the good that I have prepared for you, and know that you are loved unconditionally and eternally.

As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.”—Isaiah 66:13

THE FIRST PARENT HAD TROUBLE TOO

Kevin said: So you've decided to have a child !

Every parent knows well:
no matter what you tell your child to do, he will always do the opposite.
*********************

Whenever your kids are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His kids. After creating the heaven, the earth, the oceans, and the entire animal kingdom, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing He said to them was
"Don't".
To the animals, He never said, "Don't" - he hurled no negatives at the elephant - but to the brightest of His creatures, the ones who get into Yale, He said,
"Don't"."
Don't" what? Adam replied.
"Don't eat the forbidden fruit."
"Forbidden fruit? Really? Where is it?"

Is this beginning to sound familiar? You never realized that the pattern of your life had been laid down in the Garden of Eden.

"It's over there," said God, wondering why He hadn't stopped after making the elephants.
A few minutes later, God saw the kids having an apple break and He was angry.
"Didn't I tell you not to eat that fruit?" the First Parent said.
"Uh-huh," Adam replied.
"Then why did you?"
"I don't know," Adam said.
At least he didn't say, "No problem."
"All right then, get out of here! Go forth, become fruitful, and multiply!"

This was not a blessing but a curse:
God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. And so, they moved to the east of Eden, which was still the good part of town, and they had your tipical suburban family: a couple of dim-witted boys. One of these boys couldn't stand the other; but instead of just leaving Eden and going to Chicago, he had to kill him. Thus the pattern was set and it never has changed.

But there is reassurance in this story for those of you whose children are not doing well.

If you have lovingly and persistently tried to give them wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble handling children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?

PLAYING THE PIANO

I just started .... ..
Playing the Piano Might Make You Smarter
"It is becoming more and more clear how important all the arts are in brain development."

Instrumental Improvement
A 1999 study conducted at Columbia County Schools in Harlem, Georgia, confirmed these results.
Joyce M. Cheek and Lyle R. Smith polled eighth grade musicians on their musical history—whether they'd had individual instruction,
group instruction, and what instrument they played.
The researchers then compared this data to scores on the Iowa Basic Test, and standardized skills test, and found that those students who had experienced individual instruction showed better results than those who had had group instruction.
Furthermore, they found that those who played the keyboard—as opposed to singing, horns, drums, and a number of other instruments—had the best scores of all.
Most researchers are at somewhat of a loss to explain the phenomenon. Dr. Lyle Smith says bluntly, "I just don't know how to explain it. It's really puzzled me why the keyboard over other instruments."
Cheek, a math teacher at Harlem High School, says that this research does not necessarily suggest to her a panacea for our math and science woes, though it is hopeful nonetheless. "While giving every child keyboard lessons isn't going to fix all our problems," she says,

"it is becoming more and more clear how important all the arts are in brain development. Since we know now there is a link between the arts and math and science, we need to consider these things in future curriculum development."

Rauscher, now at the University of Wisconsin, Osh Kosh, whose forthcoming article in Early Childhood Research Quarterly documents this phenomenon in kindergartners, is of the opinion that it's merely the incidental design of the instrument that accounts for the differences. She believes that a student can achieve the same things on another instrument.
To her mind, musical literacy is the most important thing in improving cognitive abilities; it's just that the piano makes that literacy more accessible. "It's likely because the keyboard lays it out visually," she says.
"Learning on the piano may just be a more direct route to this literacy."

"It is becoming more and more clear how important all the arts are in brain development."

CAN WE LIVE LONG and HEALTHY LIFE ?

Amazing ability of the older brain.
**************************

Can we live long and healthy life?

Much has been written lately about ways to attain long and healthy life.
Today I would like to turn our attention to the fact that we know very little about our brain.
Read about amazing abilities of the older brain from great

The Aging Brain

All my life I have observed how American society treats the elderly and how all people (young and old alike!) seem to think that older people are rundown, useless, thoughtless creatures of no further worth. Older people seem to act out this stereotype as if it is expected of them. Some retire not just from work, but from life itself.
The attitude I really bridle against is "I’m too old to learn new things. My brain just doesn’t work like it used to."
Eager to find a dissenting opinion to this myth, I discovered a book in the library called "The Mature Mind" by Gene D. Cohen, M.D., Ph.D. Subtitled "The Positive Power of the Aging Brain" it sounded like just the ticket.

New findings on the adult brain establish two principles. First, the adult brain continues to grow and develop throughout our entire life. Second, brain development in adulthood is shaped mostly by outside stimuli. This new thinking means that we can do healthy "workouts" for our brains, as well as our bodies!

Tips to Improve Aging Brain Function:

-Use it or lose it!
-Keep your brain's "library of experience" in regular, vigorous use. Volunteer to work in the community or join the Peace Corps.
-Engage in new activities. Take up painting, become a tutor, go back to school! The possibilities are endless.
-Do crossword puzzles, play word games or cards to strengthen the synapses between brain cells in memory transmission areas.
-Physical exercise can increase mental abilities 20% to 30%, according to recent studies.
-Journal writing and working with your hands to build or create can help as well.
Spend time in the company of family and friends. The older brain thrives on social contact.
